One postdoctoral position (position # W0031476) is available to work in the development of nanostructured energy storage and energy conversion devices. The candidate will be involved in nanomaterials growth, device fabrication/characterization, and energy storage/conversion development. The research scope includes: (1) investigation of the growth of high-aspect ratio nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and inorganic nanowires using CVD and PECVD, (2) characterization of the materials properties using electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, X- ray diffraction, scanning probe microscopy, electrochemistry, semiconductor analyzer and photoluminiscence, (3) fabrication of Li-ion batteries, supercapacitors, solar cells and other energy devices using nanomaterials and micro-/nano- fabrication techniques, and (4) evaluate the performance of energy storage and conversion devices and systems. Experience with polymer coating or composite is a plus. A suitable postdoctoral candidate is required to have a Ph.D. degree in nanomaterials, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, applied physics, surface science, or closely related fields. We are seeking candidates who are self-motivated in career development, with good interpersonal communication skills, and willing to closely work with other group members in a dynamic research environment which involves extensive collaboration with external academic, industrial, and government collaborators.
