postdoc at UIC

Dear Colleagues,

    Applications are sought for a postdoctoral researcher position in synthetic chemistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) in the research group of Prof. Neal Mankad.  The position is available on 16 August 2012 (or until filled) and is a 1-year appointment with possibility of extension.  UIC is centrally located in the heart of downtown Chicago.

    Areas of interest to the research group include inorganic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, organic chemistry, and homogeneous catalysis.  Candidates with strong backgrounds in any of these fields will be considered.  Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, or a related field; good oral and written communication skills; and experience with air-sensitive synthetic chemistry manipulations.

    Postdoctoral researchers will lead projects in transition metal chemistry related to alternative energy conversion, bio-inspired small-molecule activation of greenhouse gases, and/or green chemistry catalysis.  The opportunity to mentor graduate and undergraduate students also exists.
