Post-doc at MIT: We seek a postdoctoral scientist interested in nanofabrication and templated self-assembly at the interface of materials processing and protein science. The goal of the project will be to unite top-down nanofabrication methods with bottom-up self-assembly based on biological systems. The ideal candidate would have a demonstrated research track record in one or more of the following fields: sub-10-nm-length-scale electron-beam lithography, transmission-electron microscopy, molecular biology and protein biochemistry, DNA-origami and assembly, and/or templated self-assembly. The position would be part of a collaboration between MIT and the Iberian Nanotechnology Institute, with Profs. Amy Keating (Biology) and Karl Berggren (EECS) being the MIT representatives. The appointment would be an MIT appointment. Applicants should forward their resume and cover letter toquantum-assistant@mit.edu.
Group leader at INL, Portugal: We are also seeking a more senior candidate with research interests in this area for an independent position at the Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory, located in Braga, Portugal. This individual would be hired to start a research group in a related area of nanofabrication. Start-up and employment conditions would be similar to those of a tenure-track junior faculty member at a research university (but without classroom teaching obligations). The formal position announcement is :

Candidates with outstanding CVs in this scientific topic will be especially considered. INL welcomes applicants with previous industrial laboratory experience (at least 5 years of Postdoctoral experience), an interdisciplinary research track and availability for temporary geographical displacement between Massachusetts (US) and Braga (Portugal). The Comissão Instaladora do INL, a NPO in charge of the setting up phase of INL, will offer an exciting, and highly competitive research environment. The remuneration scheme is in line with those offered by other international organizations (IO) and accordingly to candidate experience and background. Applicants should forward the application material indicated to both the INL directly, with a copy to quantum-assistant@mit.edu
